Top 10 Royal Hotels – 8th Edition (First 110)

With our 100th Royal in the rearview mirror, we’ve set off to consolidate our century. We’ve now been to 110 Royal Hotels across Australia and that means it’s time again to update our top 10 list of the Royals (as we do every time we hit another 10). And we have a new entry into the list! With so many great Royals behind us, it’s getting harder and harder to crack into the Top 10. Not one, but TWO Royals have been able to do just that.

This is getting extremely hard at this point as 10 is just not that many when you’ve been to 110. And a couple of our longstanding favourites finally fell off of the list. We still have extremely fond memories from those Royals and would 100% go back to them again (and recommend you do too). But we had to say goodbye to Manilla and Murrurundi from the Top 10 list. Read on to find out which ones pushed those two favourites off of the list.

Just a reminder about our criteria:

  • the criteria will be be completely and utterly subjective.
  • most likely it will not be consistent.
  • it will be solely based on the the time we had when we were at the Royals in question and subject to our whims.
  • if you visited them, you might not enjoy them as much as we did. Heck, if we went back WE might not enjoy them as much the second time around (but probably we would).
  • An emerging theme seems to be that great publicans/bar staff are a key factor in making this list
  • We may (and probably will) change our minds about the order of the list for reasons that may not be totally clear (even to ourselves)
  • the link to the write-up for each of these Top Ten Royal Hotels is included below

So here we go with our Top Ten Royal Hotels of the first 110 (once again listed from 10 to 1, countdown style to build suspense) is as follows:

8. Tambar Springs
