Royal Hotel Randwick

We left the strict seating regulations of the Royal Hotel Bondi behind and continued on to the next stop on the tour, the Royal Hotel Randwick.

We were joined on this leg of the tour by a couple of guests.  The first was Cameron the Resch’s Ravager.  The second was second-time guest Jordy.  Or at least it was supposed to be.  By the time the first schooner was gone and lunch had arrived, Jordy had still not.  Over an hour after the allotted meeting time, Jordy finally arrived.

Watching the world go by…with a Resch’s

Turns out he had a decent excuse.  While riding his motorbike the roughly 15km to the pub from his place, he had gotten 3 separate punctures.  On his motorbike.  Which has 2 tyres.  Annoyance for lateness quickly evolved into admiration for commitment.

Jordy did get there eventually

As for the pub itself, it’s fairly nice.  It’s an old pub, but it’s been done up in the slightly generic inner-city Sydney pub style.  But they haven’t gone too over the top with it.  The food was pretty good (chicken wings in particular were excellent) and there was a fairly decent tap selection. And the Stone & Wood snuck in below $10 a schooner (jeez, that feels wrong to write as a positive).

Old, but not the oldest (don’t worry Leyburn, we’ll get to you)

The Royal Hotel Randwick is the kind of place you can definitely see kicking off on a weekend evening.  But on a relaxed Saturday afternoon, it was an excellent vibe.  We sat out the front and watched the world go by.  And eventually that included watching Jordy arrive.
