Royal Hotel Paddington
Continuing on from Randwick, the Royal Tour ventured into the posh confines of the Royal Hotel Paddington. Once again John picks up the tale for this post. So I leave you in his mostly capable narrative hands.
The Royal Hotel Paddington was our third Royal of the day, fourth of the weekend. The crowd (mob) now consisted of myself (John, guest writer of this todays blog), Cory (master royal writer organiser note taker), Cam, Rabs and Wendy-Anne. Jordy made a brief appearance, but decided to head home early before he ran out of tyres to puncture.
The Paddington Royal is two story’s, with the fancy restaurant upstairs, the pub downstairs (where we stayed of course) and the bathrooms in a labyrinth underground. It was also a very welcome shelter from the heat (the pub not the bathroom), as it was somewhere near 100 degrees outside.
The Royal Hotel Paddington, even the pub bit, was done up enough to be nice, but not pretentious. A you wouldn’t wear your footy shorts, but things are ok vibe. A decent beer selection without being silly, and decent prices. Established in 1888 the building is historical without being daggy, without being daggy, the Paddington Royal is a good place to have a beer on a hot day, then have one more.
A bit if history about this particular Royal, is that I had a date there once, which was very successful. She didn’t want to see me again of course, which is fine. Once you have taken a woman to the Royal, you have already shown her your best.
