Sundown Sacrifice DIPA by Uraidla Brewery
This week’s beer is another gem from South Australia: Sundown Sacrifice DIPA from Uraidla Brewery in the Adelaide Hills.
I was recently in Adelaide for work and stopped in to a small bottle shop for supplies for the week. I asked the guy behind the counter for a good local beer that I wouldn’t necessarily be well known on the east coast. He instantly went to the Uraidla beers. Apparently they’ve sprung up out of nowhere in the past several months, but are putting out such amazing beers right out of the blocks, that they’re developing an instant reputation.
The one I went with is the Sundown Sacrifice double IPA. It is a beer that earns every bit of the reputation Uraidla Brewery has developed. It’s a double IPA and comes in at 7.5%. But the overwhelming flavour is of hops and citrus. It really drinks like a beautifully balanced NEIPA, but with a slightly stronger bite of a double IPA. I think my favourite thing about it might just be how unexpected it was. South Australia (and Adelaide in particular) has a well-earned reputation for excellent craft beer. But for a slightly random recommendation like this to be so fantastic just makes me really really hapy.
I can whole heartedly recommend for fans of either NEIPA or DIPA beer genre and I am very much looking forward to trying the other offerings from Uraidla as soon as I can get my hands on them.
