Royal Hotel Tumut

The Royal Tour rolls on (a total of 20km down the road from the first stop in Adelong) to the Royal Hotel Tumut. Tumut has a surprisingly large number of pubs for a town if its size (we counted 5, not including the brewery). But the Royal Tumut appears to be the place to be on a Saturday night. It definitely is if the guy out front rocking the hot dog cart has anything to say about it.

Tumut is also a town I’d been to a few times previously for work. It’s been a little while since I’d been there last but always had good associations. It’s a pretty town with a scenic mountain backdrop and just an overall good vibe (the high number of pubs on the main drag plus a brewery a short walk away probably doesn’t hurt either).

The Royal Hotel Tumut was a bit less of the country-pub-front-bar vibe that Adelong had, and a bit more of done-up-place-to-be feel. And the amount of people there on a Saturday night definitely bore that out. The perfectly comfortable and reasonably priced motel rooms out the back made it easy to settle in as well. All in all, a top town and a very good Royal
