Red Pelt by Fox Hat Brewing Co

I was travelling for work last week so I was super slack and missed the last week’s beer entry.  So this week, I’m going to do a two-for to make up for it.  The beer that will form the first half of the two-for is a hoppy malty caramelly kick in the taste buds called Red Pelt by Fox Hat Brewing from South Australia.

A delicious India Red Ale

Red Pelt is an India Red Ale, which I would probably say is my absolute favourite variety of beer.  My favourite part about this beer is that it does a fantastic job of nailing both aspects of the India Red Ale.  It has the really strong and awesome hoppy hit that you’d associate with any beer that includes the word ‘India’ in its name.  But at the same time, it’s got a really full-bodied rich maltiness.  As I mentioned in the opening, it almost borders on caramelly.

It just looks like it will taste awesome

It doesn’t seem like that combo should all work in a balanced way without one of the two winning out and drowning out the other, but goodness gracious it does.  The first sip is that super hoppiness that I absolutely love, and then at some mysterious point it blends seamlessly into the rich goodness through to the finish.

Red Pelt also clocks in at a reasonably robust 7.2%, but nothing too over the top for this particular genre of beer.  But certainly enough to give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside as you work your way through a couple of these awesome beers.

Get yourself a 4-pack and thank me later

As you may have suspected, I would heartily recommend trying a couple of Red Pelts if you happen to come across them in your local bottle shop.
