For the next brewery on the list we go back to South Australia. Cory’s Top 20 – #6 Big Shed Brewing Concern.
Big Shed is one of my absolute breweries. The varieties they pump out and the consistent quality is superb. I loved visiting their original brewery multiple times on visits to Adelaide. Then they moved into a ginormous new venue and it got even more brilliant.
The first beer I came across from Big Shed was the Californicator West Coast IPA, and it’s still my favourite. But their most noteworthy beer is probably the Golden Stout Time Dessert Stout. It is literally a Golden Gaytime in a glass. If that doesn’t sound delicious, then there’s something wrong with you.
Recently they’ve started their Brewer’s Series and have really raised their game from an already extremely high level. The Erebrus Imperial Stout and Red IPA are both fantastic. But for my money, the Feelin’ Fine Oat Cream IPA is the pick of the lot. In a craft beer industry where the oat cream is very much the flavour of the month, Feelin’ Fine stands out above the others. An unfortunate percentage of the oat creams out there seem to be oat creams for trendiness sake. But Feelin’ Fine is just a delicious beer that happens to be an oat cream IPA.
I’ve just quickly listed off 5 fantastic beers off the top of my head from Big Shed, but there’s a ton more. And when you throw into the mix the fact that they also serve up huge slabs of American style barbecued meat at the brewery, it’s not hard to see why Big Shed is so high on my list.
