Boss Level Ultra IPA by Garage Project
For this week’s beer we venture back over to New Zealand (and, as with Tuatara, Wellington specifically) for Boss Level Ultra IPA by Garage Project.
Garage Project are a truly excellent brewery (I’ve got 3 different varieties in my fridge at the moment). It might be a big call, but I think Boss Level Ultra IPA might be my favourite beer I’ve ever had from them.
This beer is unapologetically hoppy. It’s kick-you-in-the-teeth hoppy (and I mean that as an extremely high complement). That being said, it’s not a bitter-for-bitter’s-sake beer. The bitter and hop-meters have not been maxed out just to make the most out-there beer possible. The extreme hoppiness here is very much intentional and carefully cultivated and 100% delicious.
There is a bit of a punch here at 8.5% and clocks in at a fabulous 100 IBU’s (and you can taste every single one of them). As indicated on the label, it is not a beer for the craft-dabbler. But for a hop-o-phile such as myself, it brushes up against perfection. It really is that good.
Garage Project just don’t do bad beers. But even for them, this one is exemplary. Simply put, if you like hops, Boss Level Ultra IPA is one to snap up if you see it. Don’t ask questions, don’t check the price tag, just get it and love it.
