2019 Fresh Hop Harvest Ale by Bruny Island Beer Co.

This week’s beer comes from what I suspect to be (but have not made the effort to confirm) the southernmost brewery in Australia: Bruny Island Beer Co.  The beer is the 2019 Fresh Hop Harvest Ale.

Delicious beer all the way from Bruny Island

As a general rule I’m not a huge fan of harvest ales.  My tastes tend towards the hoppy and I find harvest ales are usually pretty big on the maltiness.  This beer definitely has big big maltiness.  But it’s actually balanced by a very nice balancing hoppiness.  It’s not a big hoppy hit like a lot of the beers that I favour and have written about in the past.  But it is spot on in terms of balancing out the rich maltiness that dominates the flavour of the beer.

They probably sum it up better than I do

Even though this one is outside of the usual vein of beer that I usually gravitate towards, I still really enjoyed it.  If your tastes tend towards the malty end of the spectrum, this beer, along with the other offerings from Bruny Island Beer Co. will absolutely be right up your alley.  But even if maltiness isn’t usually your favourite, I very highly recommend giving this 2019 Fresh Hop Harvest Ale a try.

Good beer, good brewery, good spiel on the label
